Thank you, Father Jonathan, for this biretta-tip. I have merely sung the antiphons in Latin with the Sarum chant, given the translation in English and read the relevant lesson from Scripture. I then play an organ piece, as relevant to the theme as possible. I thank you for these reflections. I first heard these antiphons in York Minster, in English but to the Gregorian chant. Advent has always been special for me, the profound meaning of prophecy in the Old Testament, the melancholy of the shortest days, preparing us for the long weeks of January to March, through Septuagesima and Lent. Celebrating the Mass of St Thomas, I was moved more than usual by the Gospel. We are not blamed for our wavering faith and skepticism. Jesus gave St Thomas the proof he was looking for. Blessed are those who have not seen the proof, but yet have believed. I felt illuminated through and though as I continued Mass. Indeed, pray for me.
